Customer Showcase

Macris School, Honduras

Macris School in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, serves approximately 1,000 students in pre-school through 12th grades. In late 2017, high school principal Michael Peabody and his team selected TeachPoint to help move their teacher evaluation and professional development tracking from a paper-based system to an online platform for the school’s 80 teachers.

Making a Big Impact
TeachPoint is already adding value for the educators at Macris School. Teachers have found the system to be user-friendly and helpful for organizing data. Principal Peabody reports that TeachPoint is helping the school systemize their processes and has also made classroom walkthroughs more efficient and effective.

“TeachPoint is helping us connect our philosophy with our summative evaluation and then work our way backward to connect goal-setting and daily observations. The integrated PD Tracking Solution is helping us motivate teachers to participate in PD events outside of school and gives us an organized way to track those activities. We are extremely happy with the TeachPoint platform and have found the personalized customer service to be very helpful,” shared Peabody.

Scale Coaching with Video Observation

TeachPoint Can Help

Teacher coaching has been shown to have a positive impact on instructional practice and student achievement, but it can be difficult to scale.

New technologies like the video observation tool in the TeachPoint Educator Evaluation Solution can help address some of these challenges.

Video observation:

  • Saves time, eliminating scheduling complexities. Video observation also allows coaches to view video observations and provide feedback even when they can’t physically be present in the classroom.
  • Allows coaching comments to be provided at specific time-stamped locations in the recorded video, fostering more meaningful, targeted feedback.
  • Facilitates peer-to-peer coaching by reducing the need for teachers to leave their own classrooms to observe their colleagues in action.
